Dr. Kathryn E. Dempsey
Dr. Kathryn E. Dempsey is a board-certified dermatologist specializing in medical, cosmetic and laser dermatology. She founded Coastal Dermatology in 2018, with the mission to provide excellent and compassionate care to each and every patient of the practice. It is her goal that all patients walk out of their appointment feeling better, knowing they are on track to achieving the skin they’ve always wanted.
A Dallas native, Dr. Dempsey graduated magna cum laude with high honors from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. She subsequently attended medical school at The University of Texas in San Antonio. Following medical school, Dr. Dempsey completed her internship and residency in dermatology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where she served as chief resident during her final year of training. She has been board-certified in dermatology since 2014, when she moved to her husband’s, Todd’s, hometown of Mobile, AL.
Dr. Dempsey has presented at several dermatology meetings including the South Carolina Dermatology Association, Southeastern Consortium of Dermatology, and American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meeting. Her accomplishments also include publications in prestigious medical journals. Dr. Dempsey is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Contact Dermatitis Society and American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
Dr. Dempsey enjoys all aspects of dermatology including acne, rosacea, psoriasis, and the diagnosis and surgical management of skin cancer. She has as a special interest in cosmetic Dermatology and overall skin health and has extensive training and experience in multiple cosmetic injectables, including Botox, Dysport, Juvederm and Restylane. In 2023, Dr. Dempsey was chosen by Galderma to become a “GAIN trainer.” GAIN Trainers represent the Galderma Aesthetic Injector Network in the US. They educate and train other health care professionals on the on-label uses of Galderma’s aesthtic portfolio.
Although she takes pride in a very active professional life, Dr. Dempsey’s greatest joy comes from her family. She loves spending time with her husband, Todd, her daughter, Annabel and son Cullen. She also enjoys barre and pilates classes in additional to fashion and travel.
